Thoughts for "Blue Angel" pg 1~63

After reading these pages, I am guessing Swenson and Angela Argo might develop feelings for each other. I am saying it because he noticed that she crossed lines by criticizing one of her classmates and then again his best friend Magda but he gave her a free pass. Then, the part that Agela replayed Swenson's message several times, I am not sure if she accidentally or intentionally mentioned it to him but definitely she has a crush on him. There is a section that we did not talk about in class; faculty meeting scene where Swenson and Sherrie attended after school. Basically, the meeting was about the Euston College policy on sexual harassment and other regular rules for faculty members to follow. Here is the interesting part that Swenson's inner thought that the fact of he is proud of himself for not breaking that sexual harassment policy within 20 years of his career at Euston. He almost sounded arrogant too where he thought "He's the saint of Huston" on page 22. I think the author is hinting something related to this particular rule is going to happen later in this book. Honestly, I can't wait to find out.

  1. Good observation, Khine. I like that you point out p. 22. Swenson thinks of the tree of knowledge in the book of Genesis there. "...erotic about the act of teaching..." indeed.
